US ESTA fee nearly doubles to US$40

The fee for the US Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) increased from US$21 to US$40 on 30 September 2025. ESTA is the online authorisation that Visa Waiver Program travelers — including most EU, UK, Japanese and Australian passport holders — need before flying to the US for short visits. The approval links to the passport and is generally valid for two years.
