In its first months the EES recorded over 45 million crossings and helped detect identity fraud and security risks.

By late March 2026 the EU reported that its new Entry/Exit System had registered more than 45 million border crossings since launch, with over 24,000 travelers refused entry for reasons such as inadequate justification of their trip or fraudulent documents. The biometric checks also helped identify more than 600 people considered a security risk and uncovered attempts to cross under multiple identities. Authorities pointed to the figures as early evidence the system is tightening border integrity.
