Overview
Bangladesh requires a visa PRIOR to travel (NOT visa-free, NOT visa-on-arrival) per Mauritius's official government classification. The visa is issued FREE of charge but must be obtained in advance via the Mauritius High Commission, New Delhi (no mission in Dhaka), Air Mauritius offices, or by emailing piovisa@govmu.org. Apply ~1 month before travel; processing 5-12 working days.
Visa types: Visa required PRIOR to travel — Bangladesh is explicitly listed by Mauritius's Passport & Immigration Office in the 'visa required prior to travel' category, grouped with Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Mali, North Korea, Laos, Palestinian State and Saharawi Republic — NOT with the ~120 visa-exempt countries nor the visa-on-arrival group that most nationalities fall into. Categories: Tourist, Business, Student, Work/Occupation, Medical, Transit (visa-free up to 24h airside; transit visa up to 3 days, free, if leaving transit area).
