MATERIAL UPDATE — verify before quoting: Cuba has transitioned from the paper Tourist Card (Tarjeta del Turista) to a mandatory electronic visa (eVisa) system via the official government portal evisacuba.cu, confirmed as the 'Government of Cuba' tourist-visa portal by Canada's official travel advisory (travel.gc.ca). A UK-based authorized reseller states paper tourist cards for air travelers are 'no longer accepted' as of around July 2025. The eVisa remains alternatively obtainable via the Cuban Embassy/consulate or authorized travel agents/airlines (UK FCDO confirms 3 channels: embassy, travel agent/airline, or the eVisa portal). Separately, ALL visitors must also complete the free, mandatory 'D'Viajeros' online advance customs/health declaration (dviajeros.mitrans.gob.cu) within 72 hours before arrival — this is IN ADDITION to, not instead of, the eVisa/tourist card.
