Overview
B1/B2 MRV application fee: USD 185 (non-refundable, unchanged). MAJOR CHANGE: the Bangladesh visa bond requirement — a pilot since Jan 21, 2026 (bond up to USD 15,000) — became a PERMANENT rule on Aug 3, 2026: the USD 5,000 tier was eliminated and the ceiling raised, so bonds are now USD 10,000 or USD 20,000 at consular officer discretion (refundable if visa terms are honored). Separately, a new USD 250 'Visa Integrity Fee' (enacted July 2025 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act) applies in principle to most approved nonimmigrant visas including B1/B2; multiple immigration-law sources describe it as 'active' at some US posts since around April 2026, but rollout is explicitly described as uneven across consulates and it is still absent from the State Department's own visa fee schedule page as of this research — whether US Embassy Dhaka is currently collecting it could not be confirmed. Also newly confirmed: the official State Department reciprocity schedule for Bangladesh now lists B-1, B-2, and B-1/B-2 visas as SINGLE entry with 3-month validity and no separate issuance/reciprocity fee — down from the multi-entry (up to 10-year) validity previously recorded.

B1/B2 visa validity: SINGLE entry, 3 months from date of issue, per the current State Dept reciprocity schedule for Bangladesh (reduced from the previously typical 5-10 year multi-entry). Authorized stay per entry is at CBP officer discretion (historically up to 180 days); bonded applicants are specifically capped at a 30-day maximum stay under the bond program rules.

United States B1 Business Visitor Visa for meetings, conferences, contract negotiations, training. Significant BD travel — diaspora ties (~700K-1M BD in US), trade, tourism combined.
US C1 Transit Visa for travelers transiting through US to a third country. CRITICAL: There is NO airside transit at US airports — all transit passengers MUST clear US immigration, hence Transit Visa is mandatory even for connecting flights.
US F1 Student Visa for full-time accredited US institution (SEVP-certified). Major BD destination — significant student community at top US universities. Optional Practical Training (OPT) provides 1-year work rights post-graduation (3 years total for STEM).
US Work Visas: H1B Specialty Occupation (annual lottery, 65,000 + 20,000 US Masters cap), L1 Intracompany Transferee (executive/manager/specialized knowledge), O1 Extraordinary Ability (top professionals), TN (Mexicans/Canadians only — not BD), E-3 (Australians only).
US Family Immigration: IR1/CR1 (spouse of US citizen — no annual limit, leads to LPR), F2A (spouse of LPR — limited but no waiting in current bulletin), K1 (fiancé — must marry within 90 days), IR2 (minor child of US citizen).
